Barwon River water levels are rising significantly

Published Thu 13 Oct 2022

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CCMA) has advised there is expected ‘Moderate’ flooding on the Barwon, Leigh and Moorabool Rivers with the rain expected Thursday 13 October 2022. That is about 3.10 AHD on the Barwon through Geelong.

On Sunday, 9 October, the river peaked at 2.38 AHD.

On Wednesday, 12 October, the level was at 1.5 AHD.

The Geelong Canoe Club is situated on land adjacent to the Barwon River with a ground floor level at an average of 3.90 AHD. This means that the river is expected to peak at 0.8 metres below the ground floor level.

We are closely monitoring the situation with CCMA and will post information on social media and the Geelong Canoe Club website should the situation change.

At this stage (Wednesday, 12 October) there is no need to move craft or equipment.
